Another world premiere: the first electric car transporter has arrived

Galliker is consistently driving forward the development of CO2-neutral vehicles. On March 8, the family-owned company headquartered in Altishofen took delivery of the world's first fully electric car transporter. In future, it will deliver new vehicles throughout Switzerland with zero emissions.

The next world premiere: on March 8, the management of Galliker Transport AG took delivery of the first fully electric car transporter. The new articulated truck was developed in cooperation with Futuricum, the e-truck brand of the Swiss Designwerk Group, and the body manufacturer Kässbohrer. Galliker has been working with the Austrian company for decades. Designwerk, in turn, also developed the all-electric 40-tonne tractor units
, which have been on the road for Galliker since last October. Their handover was also a world premiere.

Emission-free delivery of cars
Green Logistics has long been an important part of the Galliker strategy. The new e-car transporter is another element of this. It is used for the delivery of new cars within Switzerland. "The automotive industry is increasingly focusing on alternative drive systems such as hybrid, electric and hydrogen," says Rolf Galliker. "Their interest in sustainable logistics solutions is correspondingly high." The electric car transporter is the answer to this, says the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Head of Galliker Car Logistics. Together with vehicle developer and Designwerk founder Tobias Wüsler, Rolf Galliker will personally take over the first emission-free car delivery.

680 hp - all-electric body
The new truck will cover distances of around 450 kilometers a day. It has a total output of 680 hp and is powered by four modular battery packs with a total capacity of 900 kilowatt hours. In addition to the drive system, the Kässbohrer body is also operated entirely electrically. It ensures that new vehicles can be transported on two levels. After use, the batteries are charged overnight. If a quick charge is required, the vehicle can be charged to 80 percent of its battery capacity within 1 hour and 45 minutes with a charging capacity of 350 kW.

Special permit from FEDRO
The electric car transporter is on the road with a special permit from the Federal Roads Office FEDRO. Because of its battery packs, it is two tons heavier than conventional vehicles and one metre longer - the energy source is located directly behind the driver's cab. "Thanks to FEDRO's concession, we can transport the same number of cars with the emission-free vehicle as with a truck with a conventional drive," says CEO Peter Galliker.
In Altishofen, they are grateful for the concession from Bern. Now nothing stands in the way of the daily use of the next revolutionary vehicle in the Galliker fleet.
