Mega Charger has arrived in Altishofen and is in operation

On June 4, 2024, the time had finally come: the long-awaited mega charger and battery storage unit from Designwerk arrived at the company premises of Galliker Transport AG in Altishofen. The impressive 25-tonne device, filled with state-of-the-art technology and innovation, not only brought with it an impressive 960 kWh battery capacity, but also promises to enable fast charging of up to 1 MW in the future.

The transportation and installation of this technically demanding battery storage system were correspondingly challenging, but extensive test runs began in the weeks following delivery. The charging capacity was increased step by step in order to finally supply the two CCS plugs with 400 kW charging capacity each. At the same time, the integration of the battery capacity into the northern area network is being driven forward.

The ceremonial handover of the Mega Charger took place on July 3, 2024 as part of the Innovation Day. Since then, countless additional tests have been carried out to continuously optimize the system. This pioneering work requires patience and precision, but Galliker is proud to be part of such a groundbreaking and sustainable project. This progress is another significant step towards CO2-free, green logistics solutions.
