Maximum self-consumption thanks to a new battery storage system and the medium-voltage distribution network.
At the heart of the system is the photovoltaic plant, which spans 5,100 m² and consists of 2,600 solar modules. It produces approximately 1,200 MWh of electricity annually—enough to meet the average demand of over 250 households. A battery storage system with a total capacity of 15 MWh allows excess energy to be temporarily stored and used for later operation as needed. The newly integrated medium-voltage site network connects the energy flows on-site, thereby creating an integrated energy system that sustainably enhances the efficiency of the entire site infrastructure.
Smart Charging Infrastructure for Everyday Transportation
Electricity can be supplied at night via 54 charging points to charge electric vehicles. Charging power is distributed dynamically. This allows up to 10 vehicles to be charged simultaneously at up to 400 kW, or the entire truck fleet to be supplied with power simultaneously at 60 to 80 kW. This ensures that the charging infrastructure is optimally tailored to the high power requirements of fleet operations and guarantees the smooth operation of electric trucks in day-to-day transport.
Christian Kempter-Imbach, CEO of Imbach Logistik AG, explained the significance of the new infrastructure for the fleet’s further development in his speech:
“To decarbonize our fleet, we need more than just new trucks. In particular, we also need the appropriate energy and charging infrastructure. With the Zero Emissions Network, we have created the necessary conditions to further increase our share of energy supply and to fully and effectively utilize the energy we generate ourselves—both within our own operations and across the industry.”
Schachen as a Pioneer for the Nationwide Galliker Network
Schachen is the first location within the Galliker Group where the “Zero Emissions Network” is going into operation. As part of the infrastructure project launched in 2025, additional locations—such as Aclens (VD), Möhlin (AG), and S. Antonino (TI)—as well as all other Swiss “ Galliker ” locations will follow suit. The overarching goal is to progressively decarbonize transport logistics and lay the groundwork for operating more than 760 electric trucks by 2035.
The go-live in Schachen marked a successful and groundbreaking start. Additional locations are already nearing commissioning and are continuously putting the goals of the Zero Emissions Network into practice.
Part of the “ASTAG Charge” industry charging network
In the future, Imbach Logistik AG will also make its new charging infrastructure available to other transportation companies in the industry. The location will become part of the “ASTAG Charge” industry charging network, which currently comprises over 40 locations and will be officially launched on November 10, 2026. More than 60 transportation companies have already joined the network during the test phase. This makes “ASTAG Charge” the largest industry charging network for electric trucks in Switzerland and actively supports its members in decarbonizing their fleets—true to the motto “By members, for members.”
