Galliker on the road with ten e-trucks in Ticino

The branch in Ticino is predestined for the use of CO2-neutral vehicles. Following the commissioning of the first Volvo FL Electric at the beginning of October 2022, additional vehicles with electric drives have been added to the fleet on an ongoing basis. Our truck fleet in Ticino currently comprises a total of ten electric trucks from the Volvo and Designwerk brands.

The electric trucks are mainly used in the cities of Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno, Ascona and Mendrisio and enable us to take a big step towards our goal of emission-free city logistics.
A fast charging station was installed in S. Antonino so that the e-trucks can be supplied with sufficient electricity. This enables Galliker to meet the electricity consumption of the growing e-fleet. The charging station has an output of 400 kW and enables even large batteries to be charged extremely efficiently and quickly.

Combination of road and rail

In addition to electric trucks, Galliker in Ticino has been relying for many years on the sustainable solution of combining road and rail for the transportation of goods throughout Switzerland. Galliker has 64 employees and 23 vehicles on the road for its customers every day at the S. Antonino site in Ticino. The S. Antonino branch is located directly on the main traffic axis (the A2 highway) and has its own rail connection. Our branch in Ticino collects local goods from industrial and food production in Ticino, bundles them and then delivers them throughout Switzerland via the "Galliker distribution network". Every day, goods from all over Switzerland are also transported overnight by rail to our branch in S. Antonino (TI). This saves large amounts of CO2 emissions every year.
